I will most likely need parent volunteers to help with field day towards the end of the year. More details TBD. If any parent has a special skill like dance instructor, yoga instructor, zumba, karate, or any special fitness/sports talent and would like to volunteer to come in and run a class to have students experience a variety of different activities that promote lifelong fitness, it would be awesome!

What do you need help with in the classroom currently?

I would love to have anyone who has a background/expertise in science or scientific fields who wants to come in to do a special lab or presentation (if such a person exists). Students would always love more hands-on activities and/or live demonstrations of experiments. Additionally, it would be helpful if someone wanted to come in once every month or two to just help with maintaining a clean and orderly lab equipment. Tasks like disinfecting and washing goggles, scrubbing beakers that didn't get as clean as I would hope during student clean up, etc. tend to pile up when I am doing a lot of labs and hands-on activities. Any help in this area would be much appreciated!

What do you need purchased to ensure you and your students have a great year?

Because this is my first year teaching this curriculum (and my first year teaching biology and chemistry) I am learning what fits and planning labs accordingly as I go through each unit. Because of this, it is difficult for me to say right now what I need as far as consumable science materials go. I do have a concrete need for a hot plate (or two). I would also like for chemistry students to conduct a mystery solution lab as a lab assessment (and fun and interesting activity!) - a readymade kit for that runs around $60. Small classroom items that I can always use are Kleenex, glue sticks, sticky notes, and loose leaf paper. I feel so supported and welcomed by this active community - thank you all!

What do you need purchased to ensure you and your students have a great year?

Definitely Kleenex!  3 hole puncher for handouts and papers (about $12.00).

Not a purchase request, but if anyone has an old round or square (I don't have the space for rectangle) kitchen table they are looking to get rid of, or if it is taking up space in their garage, I would very gladly take it off of their hands! (Bonus if it comes with chairs too) I am building my classroom, and I would love to have this item in there for small group work, one-on-one sessions, and for students who need to do make-up testing during seminars

Good electronic pencil sharpener (mine broke and I replaced it with a cheap one); kleenex boxes, Expo markers, micro-fiber cloths for board erasers, board cleaning spray, pencils, red pens, maps??  :)  I would love to raise money for a map set I've been dying to get from Nystrom but it's expensive ($800)!
